Atari 10 in 1 Joystick

I was reading Slashdot and saw a story about the Atari 10 in 1 Joystick.
Being a good geek, I immediately bought one from Avon.
Why does Avon have Atari games for sale?  I have no fargin' idea.
But I wanted it, and Avon sold it to me.  The box arrived promptly and they
even included some little make-up tub thingie.  I gave it to Michele.

Jakks Pacific made the game for Infogrammes.
I don't find alot about Jakks on the web, but they did a fine job.

The game takes 4 AA batteries and the cord plugs directly into the video
and audio inputs to the TV.  The games are completely self-contained in the joystick

The ten games that are included are:
Asteroids, Centipede, Pong, Breakout, Yars Revenge
Gravitar, Real Sports Volleyball, Adventure, Missile Command, Circus Atari

The games are exactly as I remember them.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were running the same processor inside
the joystick that was used in the original Atari 2600.

They even included all the different game modes (except 2 player)
for the various games.  That means you have your choice of hyperspace or shields
when playing Asteroids.

The girls were quite interested in this new game.
Mira grabbed the joystick and promptly took control.

Yep, that's Asteroids.

Who needs 3D avatars?
All you really need a square to represent yourself.

This is the much feared dragon in Adventure.

Here are the game controls.
Reset, Select, Start and the On/Off switch.

A top view of the joystick.

Overall, the game rocks.
I'm sure that some Atari purists will find have some issues
to complain about, but I think they've done a great job.

It's a video game experience I can share with my daughters
that we can all enjoy.
